Audi of America announced today that it has promoted Tara Rush, SVP and Chief Communications Officer for the automaker since 2019, to SVP and Chief Marketing Officer. She will be the first woman to lead marketing for the brand’s US business.
In the new position, Rush will oversee brand strategy and all marketing efforts in the United States, including advertising, brand partnerships, customer experience, retail marketing, and social media. She will report directly to the President of Audi of America, Daniel Weissland. Rush is tasked with taking on many of the roles previously taken on by vp of marketing Loren Angelo who is leaving the brand after 12 years.
“Tara is not just a seasoned branding expert, she is an exceptional leader with a passion for meaningful change,” Weissland said in a statement. “Her mix of outside experience and proven in-house track record – coupled with her strategic and courageous decision-making – is a perfect fit for this role.”
Before joining Audi of America, Rush was Head of Corporate Communications for Heineken USA. She brings 20 years of experience in public relations to the new role, including at Emanate, Mars, Ketchum and Edelman.
“Today more than ever, marketing must be at the interface between what people want and need, what a brand stands for and how to reflect culture and society thoughtfully,” said Rush in a statement. “I am very pleased to lead the new era of mobility at Audi and our commitment to put people at the center of our actions.”
Angelo’s last day at Audi is December 1st. He then stays for a short time to ensure a smooth transition. While Rush moves into the new role, she will continue to serve as chief communications officer until a replacement is found.
