Mandalorian Star Gina Carano Supported President Trump On Social Media – Now Followers Need Her Fired
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA – NOVEMBER 13: Gina Carano attends the premiere of Disney + “The … [+]
Whether Cara Dune will survive the second season of the hit Disney + series The Mandalorian is unknown, but some fans want to see the actress who plays the former shock soldier all but dissolved! Actress Gina Carano is now facing something far worse than the Imperial Storm Troopers – she faces backlash when she makes comments on social media.
This isn’t the first time the former MMA fighter has created a Death Star-sized firestorm for comments on Twitter. Comments that could ruin any of Disney’s plans, which could revolve around her character who had become almost as much of a breakout as the kid (aka “Baby Yoda”).
The latest controversy began on November 5th when Carano wrote from her official Twitter account (@ginacarano): “We need to clean up the electoral process so we don’t feel like we do today. Put in place laws that protect us from voters. ” Scam. Examine each state. Film the count. Rinse out the fake votes. Need some form of ID. Let 2020 election fraud end. Repair the system. “
While President Donald Trump wasn’t actually mentioned by name, the mere association was too much for some fans of the Star Wars spin-off, who found her post like turning to the dark side! Some fans even suggested that Disney should fire Gina Carano.
Episode I: Anger of the fans
The “prequel” story to this month’s calls for Ms. Carano’s layoffs came earlier this year after fans of the show asked her if she would add pronouns to her biography to show solidarity with the transgender community. This process of adding pronouns to a social media profile has become increasingly common among trans and non-binary users to avoid abuses.
Carano eventually replied with the words “boop / bop / beep” – that’s the sound droids make in Star Wars, and according to Wookipedia is the name of a song performed by the band Duro Droids. Of course, for fans it was constructed as mocking what the actress denied.
“Beep / bop / boop has nothing to do with ridiculing trans people. (Love) & 100% exposing the bullying mentality of the mob who has taken over the voices of many real causes. I want people to know That hate that you can take it with a smile. So BOOP yourself for any misunderstanding. “
While she received great support and many users agreed that no one should be forced to use pronouns in their profiles, many have also called on her to play the victim if she’s the one who threw the thermal detonator that triggered it has firestorm first!
“Social media has become amazingly anti-social in recent years,” said technology entrepreneur Lon Safko, author of the Social Media Bible. “A platform that was designed as an open forum for people to connect and express their ideas has now become a weapon of mass destruction. If you disagree with the ‘popular’ views, people use social platforms to do so try to destroy you and your reputation.
“It is unfortunate and unnecessary what happened to Gina Carano,” added Safko. “She just expressed her views. If you disagree, just hit that little button on any platform called ‘don’t follow’.”
The wrong opinion can cost you
Former Cheers star Kirstie Alley experienced a similar setback on social media in the weeks leading up to the election after sharing her support for President Trump on Twitter.
In some cases, celebrities have seen their careers succeed.
“We all remember what happened to Kathy Griffin when she posted the bloody Trump head and even Roseanne Barr tweeted her infamous ‘Planet of the Apes’ tweet,” Safko said. “They almost ended their careers. The last time I checked, we have a right to an opinion in the US and there is even a document that says we all have ‘freedom of speech’.”
Since President-elect Joe Biden was declared victorious in the 2020 election, there has been no shortage of comments like Carano’s – including calling for votes to be recounted. Instead of viewing this as patriotic to ensure democracy, many see this as a form of turmoil.
“Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez tweeted,” Is anyone archiving these Trump sycophants? “And Hari Sevugan, deputy campaign manager at Pete for America, tweeted.” We just launched the Trump Accountability Project to ensure that anyone who takes a paycheck is helping Trump be held accountable for what they have done, “warned Safko.” It is unfortunate how some people in power are abusing the technology that is was created to bring people together to try to destroy them just because they disagree. “
The danger is that instead of trying to censor what people are saying, the masses are trying to silence them. And given that social media goes on forever, there are good reasons to think before you tweet.
“As the author of the Social Media Bible, I have never expressed my political views in all of my 1,000 tweets, posts, updates and videos,” said Safko. “As the old adage teaches us: ‘Even a fish cannot be caught if it keeps its mouth shut.'”
Episode III: Call Baby Yoda
While Carano may not stay away from tweeting, her recent efforts to gain fans may have failed. On November 8th, she posted a map of the United States in green on Twitter, stating that the aforementioned baby Yoda “won” a competitive race, “OMG BREAKING NEWS !!!!”
Of course, some even took offense – because the Baby Yoda character (spoiler) ate some critically endangered eggs that were critically endangered. Even baby Yoda was clearly not enough to turn the tide of Carano on social media.
