Netcraft phishing and cybercrime safety app for iOS obtainable globally

Netcraft has released a new version of its phishing and cybercrime protection app for iOS. The app protects users all over the world from online threats like phishing, JavaScript skimmers, fake shops and coronavirus scams. The Netcraft app is available for download today on iOS, Android and Amazon devices:

Our iOS app protects against online threats. New attacks are blocked within 15 minutes of being identified by Netcraft as fraudulent. It offers a 28-day free trial of all features. A monthly or annual subscription can then be purchased for $ 1.99 or $ 9.99 (£ 1.99 or £ 9.99).

You can use the unsubscribed app to report suspicious websites to Netcraft with just a few taps, and automatically report URLs in SMS and iMessages from unknown senders.

Wherever you are, the app protects against phishing attacks on regional services such as governments and banks. In addition, it protects users from other types of online threats such as JavaScript skimmers on ecommerce websites, fake shops imitating well-known brands, emerging threats such as coronavirus scams, and attacks on global businesses such as cloud services, financial institutions, and social Media.

Phishing isn’t limited to the desktop: after analyzing a month’s log files recovered from phishing sites, Netcraft found that two-thirds of visits were from mobile browsers. Some scammers also add mobile specific user interfaces to their phishing attacks, making them even more effective against phone and tablet users.

Mobile users are also vulnerable to smishing – a practice where scammers distribute phishing URLs via SMS and iMessage, often spoofing the sender so that the message was from a legitimate entity.

Even so, unlike their desktop counterparts, mobile browsers lack comprehensive anti-phishing protection. In an ongoing study, Netcraft found that iOS and Android browsers only block a fraction of the websites that are blocked by their desktop counterparts, putting mobile users at greater risk.

The app leverages Netcraft’s industry-leading malicious website feed, which is licensed to leading web browser providers as well as antivirus, firewall, intrusion detection and content filtering companies. Netcraft processes millions of suspicious URLs every day to identify phishing attacks. To date, over 89 million unique phishing sites have been discovered and blocked by the Netcraft community.

The Netcraft app blocks hundreds of thousands of malicious websites while ensuring user privacy. Threats are blocked in the Safari browser and other apps like WhatsApp, Slack and Twitter without giving us any information about the websites you have visited.
