Facebook will bring its standalone Facebook News tab to the UK in early 2021.
The social network introduced Facebook News as a standalone tab in its flagship mobile application in October 2019, designed for the work of around 200 news agencies.
It became available as a bookmark on the Facebook app in June in the US. The social network said at the time that the experience of local news discovery Today In would be condensed into Facebook News.
And in August, Facebook announced plans to expand Facebook News to multiple countries, possibly starting with Brazil, France, Germany, India and the UK
News Partnerships Director Jesper Doub said in a blog post that the first group of publishers to feature on Facebook News in the UK are Archant, Condé Nast, The Economist, ESI Media, Guardian Media Group, Hearst, Iliffe and JPI Media would include. Midland News Association, Reach and STV.

According to Facebook, more than 95% of the traffic Facebook News sends to publishers in the US is from new audiences who have not interacted with these news outlets in the past.
